- Start by boiling a large pot of salted water. Add the lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions for about 8-10 minutes. Drain and drizzle with olive oil.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef, browning for 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat, then stir in marinara sauce, diced tomatoes, and Italian seasoning. Simmer for 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and grated Parmesan cheese. Mix until smooth and well combined. Set aside.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a greased baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, and shredded mozzarella until ingredients are used. Finish with noodles topped with meat sauce, mozzarella, and reserved Parmesan.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 20 minutes until golden-brown and bubbly.
- Let the lasagna rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired.
