Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Start by boiling a large pot of salted water. Add the lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions for about 8-10 minutes. Drain and drizzle with olive oil.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef, browning for 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat, then stir in marinara sauce, diced tomatoes, and Italian seasoning. Simmer for 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and grated Parmesan cheese. Mix until smooth and well combined. Set aside.
  4. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a greased baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, and shredded mozzarella until ingredients are used. Finish with noodles topped with meat sauce, mozzarella, and reserved Parmesan.
  5. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 20 minutes until golden-brown and bubbly.
  6. Let the lasagna rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired.
