Step-by-Step Instructions

  2. Roll out the chilled shortcrust pastry to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut circles to line your pie tins.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the onion and garlic until tender, about 3-4 minutes. Add ground beef and cook until browned, 5-7 minutes. Pour in beef broth and sprinkle thyme, simmering until thickened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Place the pastry circles in pie tins, press gently to fit. Add the beef mixture, then top with another pastry circle, crimping the edges to seal.
  5. Brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  6. Bake on a lined baking sheet for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and flaky.
